The Salt of the Earth and not the Earth of Salt

Brothers and sisters I greet you in the mighty name of our Heavenly Father!

We live in a world where we tend to rely more on our contacts, connections, networks and man-made wisdom rather than relying on God, who is actually the source of an infallible wisdom.

Why?

Because the modern life is all about living in the now and everything is fast, we have fast-food (takeaway) fast trains and everything is done fast, people talk fast, people eat fast, people even pray fast.

Sometimes in church when the preacher goes beyond the normal ending time, people don’t even wait until the Preacher concludes his sermon, they just silently leave one by one <I hope this won’t happen today>.

Are we the salt of earth or the earth of the salt?

People pray and expect change in minutes if nothing changes, they run to a Sangonma (traditional healer) for a quick fix. What a sick world!

I have heard on many occasions Christians saying, the world has changed so we as Christians must also change…I’m like… ok… that depends on what kind of change you’re referring to…so what should we change?

Are we not supposed to follow Jesus instead of following the changes in the world? Aren’t we the salt of the earth or are we the earth of salt?

Are we not supposed to be the light of the world, or the world should be the light in us?

Once again, this proves how the world we live in has also influenced the way Christians all over the world conduct themselves and the way they live. 

The mankind has lost dominion over the world ever since sin entered this world and now the evil world has gained dominion over people.

Have you noticed people nowadays fill up churches where the focus is just conducting miracles? Praying to get a good job, praying for a promotion and praying to get rich?

A friend of mine once went to a Church and told me: “man…I will never go to that church ever again. Bro! during the offerings and tithes the Pastor was saying…the more money you put in…the more blessing you will get in return and the richer you will become”.  I could not believe it but yeah…that’s what I am talking about.

People are desperate and therefore they seek desperate measures, people have given up faith and traded it off with self-centredness and the urge of getting things now and quick. People don’t have time to wait for answers or wait for God’s time, they want it and they want it right now!

Unfortunately most of the prayers people make are self-centred rather than prayers of worship and praises, people very often pray to ask for forgiveness for the sins committed on daily basis.

We are being corrupted by this shattering world but praise be the Name of Jesus Our Lord, because we still have a chance for change…listen to this…we can become like a fish that lives in the sea and yet is not salty! Oh yes we can!

Can I hear somebody say Amen?

How can we do that?

Simple answer is…by trusting God and not trusting in our own efforts.

The flesh decays but the spirit of God lives forever, we need to replace the flesh with the spirit and that means by seeking his wisdom and not the wisdom of men; seeking his kingdom first rather than seeking for solutions for our own problems alone. The bible reassure us that once you seek his king down first, the rest shall be added. Isn’t that what the bible says?

The wisdom of God is what we need and not the wisdom of men “because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men”. [1^st Corinthians 1:25].

We should not become dubious, God’s time is perfect and his promise never fails. Therefore we should embrace faith in troubling times, God’s promise should be our consolation in gashing times.

May we not seek the wisdom of men “for it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent”( 1^st Corinthians 1:19).

Today I would like to encourage you to seek his wisdom and not the wisdom of men, remember, whatever your circumstances you are not alone. God is not watching you on your boat from a distance, he is right there in your boat with you side by side.

Just one more advice, invite Jesus to drive your boat and make him your Captain, surely he will take you from your current situation and bring you closer to him and close to your purpose in this world.

When you invite him to be your captain your life will never be the same!

Oh yes.., we should be the Salt of the Earth and not the Earth of Salt!
